Privacy Policy

Effective Date: November 5, 2026

T. Ryan Lane, P.C. (“the Firm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit tryanlane.com (the “Website”), how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. This Policy applies only to the Website. Information you share with us during a legal representation is protected by our professional duty of confidentiality under the New Mexico Rules of Professional Conduct, and where applicable the attorney-client privilege, which provide more protection than this Policy describes.

1. Important Notice: No Attorney-Client Relationship

Visiting the Website, reading its content, or contacting us by phone or email does not create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship is formed only when the Firm agrees to represent you, which is usually confirmed in a written engagement agreement. Until then, please do not send us confidential or time-sensitive information about a legal matter. Information you send before we have agreed to represent you, and before we have checked for conflicts of interest, may not be treated as confidential or privileged.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide. If you call, email, or write to us, we receive whatever information you choose to share, such as your name, phone number, email address, mailing address, and a description of your legal matter.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Website, certain information is collected automatically through our hosting, security, and analytics tools, including:

  • Your IP address and approximate location (city, state, or country)
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages you view, the time and date of your visit, and the time spent on pages
  • The website or search engine that referred you to the Website

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information through the Website, such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or health information. Please do not send this type of information to us through unsecured email.

3. Cookies and Analytics

The Website uses cookies and similar technologies, which are small files stored on your device. We use:

  • Essential cookies that are needed for the Website to work and stay secure.
  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics helps us understand how visitors use the Website so we can improve it. It collects information such as the pages you visit and how you arrived at the Website. Google’s use of this information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

The Website also loads fonts from Google Fonts. When it does, your browser sends your IP address to Google. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. If you block cookies, some parts of the Website may not work properly.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and schedule consultations
  • Check for conflicts of interest before we agree to a representation
  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Website
  • Understand how visitors use the Website
  • Comply with our legal and professional obligations

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share it for others’ marketing purposes. We share information only:

  • With service providers who help us run the Website, such as our web hosting, security, and analytics providers. These providers may use the information only to perform services for us.
  • When required by law, court order, or legal process, or when our professional obligations require it
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of the Firm, our clients, or others
  • With your consent

6. Text Messaging (SMS)

If you agree to receive text messages from the Firm, we collect your mobile phone number and the record of your consent, and we use them to send the messages you agreed to receive, such as appointment reminders, scheduling messages, and replies to your questions. All other uses described in this Policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information. These include encrypted (HTTPS) connections to the Website and security monitoring. However, no website or internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you send to us online. Standard email is not encrypted. If you need to send confidential documents, please call us first so we can arrange a secure method. If a data breach involving your personal information occurs, we will give the notices required by the New Mexico Data Breach Notification Act and other applicable law.

8. Data Retention

We keep information collected through the Website only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Policy. Information that becomes part of a client file is kept as required by the New Mexico Rules of Professional Conduct and our record-retention practices.

9. Your Choices

You can contact us at any time to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. We will honor your request unless we are legally or professionally required to keep the information. Some web browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, the Website does not currently respond to them.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information through the Website, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised Policy on this page and change the Effective Date above. Your continued use of the Website after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
